Success for Clinton

When Clinton was looking for his next job opportunity, he was not too worried. He had always been able to find positions and he was used to having employers seek him out. He had extensive sales experience in the automotive industry. He also had technical skills. He had a solid resume and good references. His unemployment situation was mostly due to bad timing. The summer of 2023 came and went and still no opportunities had come his way. As winter loomed, Clinton started applying everywhere. He sent out 42 applications in 14 days through Indeed with no success. He had heard about YES, and hoped we could help his situation when he walked in to the office feeling pretty defeated. YES programs and services are for adults and youth of all ages and skill levels. We connected Clinton with Sydnie; one of the YES Career Development Practitioners who provide professional assistance to help clients find meaningful employment. The free programs and services we provide offer a strategic advantage to those who work with us. Sydney connected Clinton with Matthew, one of our Employer Relations Coordinators. “Matt really kickstarted things for me.” Clinton explained, “He was able to round some really good options for me that fit well with my love for front-line work where I can provide customer service and connect with people.” Our Employer Relations Coordinators have a network of business connections that we can use to provide clients with opportunities that align with their career goals. Clinton noted that “Matt worked really hard to find a position that fit”.

It was an opportunity with S&R Electronics and Appliance Repair ticked all the boxes for Clinton. He was hired on as a Service Writer. It’s a very busy shop and Clinton describes his role there as “refreshing”. It provides him with the opportunity to directly engage with customers who are booking appointments and he had the expertise and experience to be able to jump into the role and become an asset to the company right away.

We want to congratulate Clinton on his new role, and thank S&R Electronics and Appliance Repair for working with our team.

Wilderness North Job Fair

Marilin and Matthew from Wilderness North were at YES Employment Services for an on-site job fair on April 3rd. They were recruiting for positions at their remote lodge looking for a Lodge Housekeeper/Server, a Lodge Deckhand/Maintenance, and a Lodge Cook and Management Couple for Service Lodge Manager. We had sixteen interested job seekers attend the fair. If you are interested in any of these positions, connect with YES and we will pass on your information to the Wilderness North team.

Opportunities Northwest Job Fair

Thank you to all the job seekers, employers and community partners who connected with us at the Opportunities Northwest Job Fair on March 28th at the Valhalla Inn. The organizers estimate that the very busy fair had over 2000 visitors!

YES would like to welcome Jacob Jordan to the our Career Development Practitioner team! He has the following Bio to share: “With a foundation in social services, specializing in developmental aid and child and youth care, I’ve accumulated valuable experience in working with individuals. Transitioning into my current role as a career development practitioner has been fulfilling. Outside of work, I enjoy hitting the gym and indulging in a round of golf”. We are so glad to have you aboard Jacob!
