Therapeutic Support Worker

35 hours/week, Flexible Hours
The Therapeutic Support Worker will work one to one with youth who has complex neurodevelopmental disabilities. This position will support the youth using relational, strength-based approach in a variety of environments to meet his mental health, educational, cultural and recreational needs. The position will focus primarily in supporting the youth in the school environment on a modified school schedule as well as some community recreational activities.
The Therapeutic Support Worker will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with the youth’s family.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Required
> Degree/Diploma from accredited University or College within a Human Services field such as Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Recreational Therapy, etc.
> 3-5 years of experience working with youth 8-12 years of age who have complex neurodevelopmental profiles such as; fetal alcohol spectrum disorder & autism spectrum disorder.
> Knowledge of and experience using trauma – informed practices and understanding the impacts of trauma on child development.
> Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention or related certificate
> First Aid Certificate
> Criminal Records Check
> Driver’s license is an asset, not mandatory.
