Summary:

Under the supervision of the Service Delivery Manager, the Employer Relations Coordinator incumbent provides service and support to employers as well as be responsible for marketing and promoting programs and services for the agency. The position will cultivate new employer contacts while maintaining positive relationships with existing employer partners; and focus on outreach to the local business community while increasing job opportunities for YES’ clients. Represent agency at various community events. The Employer Relations Coordinator provides services to clients accessing job development services, contacts with employers, and documentation of activities for reporting and analysis. Incumbent must have the ability to work in a dynamic programming / service delivery environment.

MAJOR TASKS WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Employer Relations

  • Establish and maintain employer database
  • Ongoing cold calls to generate growth to the employer database
  • Facilitate the collection and screening of applications on behalf of employers
  • Attend unit meetings with Career Development Practitioners and Youth Workers.
  • Record and track data on employer activity
  • Organize monthly employer information sessions,
  • Coordinate services and encourage employers to receive resumes and conduct interviews at YES Employment Services.
  • Coordinate training needs (e.g. COJG) with employers
  • Provides follow-up meetings to review action plan, chart clients progress, and determine further action required.
  • Educate employers to the benefits of apprenticeships and the programs in place to support both the employer and the apprentice.
  • Educate employers to the Employment Standards Act as it pertains to Health and Safety and Payroll requirements.
  • Connect with Economic Development, Chamber of Commerce and new employers.
  • Ensure awareness of YES Employment programs and services and any changes to guidelines.
  • Evaluates employer service as per program requirements
  • Obtains feedback from clients and employers throughout the duration of placements

Marketing / Promoting Services

  • Market and promote programs and services to the community.
  • Represent YES at committee/organizational meetings.
  • Develop partnerships to promote mentoring clients through programs available in the community.
  • Utilize knowledge of labour market information and hiring trends to determine themes and timing for events, such as job fairs, in collaboration with Marketing Outreach Coordinator.

Programming

  • Thorough knowledge of all program guidelines.
  • Participate in strategic planning process.
  • Participate in both unit and all staff meetings.

Required Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of the local labour market
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to operate a computer and a variety of software programs
  • Comfort working autonomously in off-site locations and promoting YES programs and services
  • Strong negotiation skills

Other duties as assigned by the Service Delivery Manager and/or Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary education related to business, sales, or marketing. Ability to market programs and services and demonstrates familiarity with statistical reporting and analysis. Experience with helping services. Ability to communicate effectively. Excellent computer skills, proficiency with desktop publishing, marketing systems and software. Some travel may be required. Valid driver’s licence and vehicle with business insurance required
