Under the direction of the Counselling and Clinical Support Services Manager, the Native Child & Family Worker will ensure the current developmental, treatment, and psycho-social needs of children, youth, and families are met by actively participating in the provision of assessment and treatment. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide a range of counselling services to youth attending Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School and their families in school, community and home settings that are consistent with the philosophy, approach, goals and learning environment established by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, which will ensure the social, emotional and physical well-being of children, youth, and families. The Native Child & Family Worker is responsible for the coordination and delivery of integrated services from the point of assessment to discharge for all assigned youth, and families receiving agency service.
Qualifications and Requirements: Native Child & Family Worker Diploma or a Child and Youth Worker Diploma are required. Other combinations of related qualifications and experience may be considered if no applicants are received with the qualifications specified above. Two or more years experience in the provision of counselling services to Anishinabek children, youth, and their families is preferred.
Hours of Work: 32.5 per week
Must have: Satisfactory Criminal Records Search; including Vulnerable Sector Search; Ability to work flexible hours as determined by the Counselling and Clinical Support Services Manager in relation to service requirements; Must posses a Class “G” Driver’s Licence and have access to a personal vehicle; A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is recommended. Complete and maintain certification in the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS) and other relevant Ministry of Children and Youth Services initiatives.
