Employer Connections through YES Landed Caleb a Position at Dominion Motors

After five months of job searching with no luck, Caleb was feeling frustrated. He had skills and experience in labour-related fields, but applying online just wasn’t resulting in any job offers.   That’s when he connected with YES Employment Services.  After chatting with our staff in the Resource Area, Caleb decided he could benefit from working with one of our Employment Coordinators.  Accessing the Employment Service program at YES is free.  It serves job seekers of all ages and skill levels and it provides advice, job search support and connections to opportunities with local businesses.  Caleb made an appointment and soon started working with E.C. Brenda Richtig.

“The best part of working with Brenda was fixing up my resume and knowing it was competitive,” Caleb shared. “But what really made the difference was the direct connections YES has to employers.”

One of those connections led Caleb straight to Dominion Motors. The business was on the lookout for a lube technician, and they had reached out to YES for help finding a qualified candidate. Caleb’s experience and skill set lined up with their needs, so Brenda wasted no time sending his resume. Dominion Motors was interested right away and invited Caleb for an interview.  He started the following Monday!

To support the hiring process, the Employment Service program provides a training incentive for eligible clients to help offset the cost of onboarding. This made it easier for Dominion Motors to bring Caleb on board, and offset the cost of providing him with new skills in the automotive field.

For Caleb, it was the break he needed. For Dominion Motors, it was the right hire at the right time. For  YES, the match provided another employment success story highlighting that the right connections can make all the difference.

If you’re looking for someone in your corner to support your career journey, connect with YES. Our Employment Service program offers one-on-one guidance, job search support, and access to a network of local employers and leads. Walk in, call, or request an appointment here:  Request an Appointment – YES Employment Services

Community Engagement

We had a great time networking during the Prosperity Northwest Welcome Evening on January 28th at the Valhalla Inn sponsored by the Wilder Institute. Kathryn Gibson, (right photo, pictured left), Director of Development with the Institute, chatted with us about her conservation organization and its plans to expand into Ontario. On January 29th, we were able to have extended conversations with conference attendants at our exhibit booth. We want to thank all the trade show attendants who connected with us at our booth during the Prosperity Northwest Trade Show and Conference.

We were thrilled to attend Cannexus 2025 in Ottawa this year from January 27th to 29th. Along with other conference participants, we attended to explore ways to lead the way into a new era of career development. Diego; Accounting, Executive Director; Lorna Hunda, Employment Coordinators; Sydnie and Summer and Program Supervisor; Tom all attended Canada’s largest bilingual conference focused on career and workforce development. It was a great opportunity to share in this impactful gathering where we were able to explore innovative practices, connect with peers and shape the future of our field.
