Duration: 8 weeks (Start Date TBD – August 30, 2025)
Wage: $17.20 per hour
Hours per Week: 30 hours (schedule may vary based on event needs)

Job Description:
The Upsala Recreation and Community Sports Centre Board is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Event Coordinator for the 2025 summer season under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This role is ideal for youth interested in event planning, community engagement, and recreation. The successful candidate will support events and programming at the Upsala Recreation and Community Sports Centre and Inwood Park and Campground, while also assisting with park and campground upkeep.

The Event Coordinator will report to the Programming Manager and Administrator and play a key role in helping deliver a fun and safe summer season for the Upsala community. The work schedule will vary depending on event planning, setup, delivery, and takedown requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the coordination, planning, and delivery of local events including:

Canada Day celebrations
Upsala Ball Weekend
Planning and preparation for the Upsala Fall Fair
Other summer programming at Upsala Recreation and Community Sports Centre and Inwood Park and Campground

Support the setup and takedown of community events and recreational activities

Help ensure event sites are clean, organized, and safe for public use

Greet and assist attendees during events, offering guidance and information, supervising children’s activities and plan programming under the guidance of the Programming Manager and the Administrator

Maintain cleanliness of park spaces, public washrooms, showers, and campground facilities

Conduct site checks to ensure the upkeep of trails, picnic areas, firepits, and other outdoor spaces

Report any safety concerns or maintenance issues to supervisors

Adhere to health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Eligibility Requirements (Canada Summer Jobs Program):
Must be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment

Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee status

Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be legally entitled to work in Canada
Qualifications:
Strong interest in community events, recreation, and public service

Good organizational, communication, and teamwork skills

Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

Self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility and initiative

Previous experience in event coordination, hospitality, or maintenance is an asset but not required
Working Conditions:
Based primarily at Inwood Park and Campground and the Upsala Recreation and Community Sports Centre

Work will include both event coordination tasks and facility support duties

Flexibility in work hours required depending on event schedule (includes evenings and weekends)

PPE and safety training will be provided
