Programming Manager
Location: 4185 Hwy 17, Upsala, Ontario

Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Canada Summer Jobs Program)
Duration: 8 weeks (Start Date TBD – August 30, 2025)
Hours per Week: 35 hours (may include weekends, holidays, and evening shifts)
Hourly Wage: $19.20-$23.20
Must possess a Valid G driver’s license and pass a drivers abstract report
Job Description:
The Upsala Recreation and Community Sports Centre Board is hiring a Programming Manager for the 2025 summer season. This leadership role is ideal for experienced candidates looking to gain valuable experience in tourism operations and staff management.
Funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, the Programming Manager will coordinate summer events, oversee recreational programs, and supervise three summer staff: the Park Attendant, Event Coordinator and Tourism Information Officer.
Reporting to the Administrator and follow the direction of the Upsala Recreation and Community Sports Centre Board
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate duties for Park Attendant, event coordinator and Tourism Information Officer
Plan and deliver summer programming and community events, as assigned
Monitor day-to-day operations of local recreational facilities as assigned, including hands on support such as park maintenance and cleaning support
Serve as liaison between summer staff and Administrator
Promote events and tourism activities within the community
Ensure all safety and cleanliness standards are met
Participate in event set-up, take-down, and general operations
Track attendance and provide basic reports on programming
Provide friendly service to the public and support community engagement
Qualifications:
Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility:
18–30 years old at the start of employment, for this role you must be at least 18 years of age
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee status
Valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and legally entitled to work in Canada
Strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills
Previous experience in event planning, recreation, or tourism is an asset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable working independently and outdoors in various weather conditions
Basic supervisory experience is an asset
Work Environment:
On-site work at recreational and community facilities
Includes both administrative tasks and physical duties
May involve lifting, setting up equipment, and walking grounds
PPE and training provided as required
