Job Title: Park Attendant, one (1) position available
Location: On-site at 4185 Hwy 17, Upsala, Ontario
Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Canada Summer Jobs Program)
Duration: 8-week contract (Start Date TBD – August 30, 2025)
Wage: $17.20/hour
Hours: 35 hours per week (may include weekends, holidays, day and evening shifts)
Position Summary:
The Upsala Recreation and Community Sports Centre Board is seeking a motivated and responsible individual to join our team as a Park Attendant for the summer season. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program and is ideal for youth looking to gain hands-on experience in outdoor maintenance, public service, and community recreation.
The successful applicant will support the daily upkeep, maintenance, and cleaning of multiple public-use areas including:
Inwood Park and Campground
Upsala Recreation and Community Sports Centre
Upsala Ball Field
Upsala Cemetery
This position may also require assisting with camper check-ins and community events.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily inspections of all sites to identify and address safety or cleanliness issues.
Clean and maintain public washrooms, showers, and garbage/recycling stations.
Mow lawns, trim weeds, and assist with landscaping and general groundskeeping duties.
Maintain picnic areas, firepits, trails, and playgrounds.
Collect and dispose of litter and debris throughout all park and recreational areas.
Assist with minor repairs and report any larger maintenance concerns.
Monitor campground reservations and help with camper check-in as needed.
Provide friendly, courteous service to visitors and enforce park rules.
Support the set-up and clean-up of community events and programming.
Use equipment and tools safely and follow all workplace safety procedures, including use of PPE and completion of mandatory training.
Qualifications:
Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility:
Between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with official refugee status)
Possess a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Able to work both independently and collaboratively
Strong work ethic, responsibility, and attention to detail
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in maintenance, landscaping, or customer service is an asset, but not required
Working Conditions:
Physically active role involving walking, lifting, bending, and use of landscaping tools
May require working weekends and statutory holidays
Safety training and protective equipment will be provided
