Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Crisis and Outreach Programs or designate, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for carrying out duties as a member of the interdisciplinary team attached to Addictions Services. The RN will work alongside the team providing services to individuals involved in the withdrawal management program. Key responsibilities include providing assessment and general nursing care in order to assist clients in safely sobering from substance use, their safe exit after, as well as referring to other disciplines or internal/external programs and agencies, as required.
Qualification:
Education/Experience:
-Current unrestricted certificate of registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
-Training in Mental Health/Addiction Medicine preferred
-Experience and good understanding of addiction treatment modalities, best practices, live in treatment and harm reduction approaches
-Experience working with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial model and experience with addiction and mental health interventions
Skills/Abilities:
-Excellent clinical and assessment skills
-Must demonstrate sound knowledge of community resources
-Excellent skills in problem-solving, time management and verbal and written communication
-Be able to work independently with the support from an interdisciplinary team
-Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
-Demonstrated regular attendance at work
Assets:
-Experience working with mental health and substance use disorders
-Previous experience working in a street nursing setting
-Previous experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As travel between work locations is necessary, access to timely and convenient transportation, whether private or public, is essential.
This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
