Red Lion Smokehouse is a busy gastro pub in the Waterfront District of Thunder Bay. Open daily for lunch and dinner, our pub specialises in home smoked food and craft beer. This 220 seat restaurant boasts 3 patios, bar, lounge and casual dining room. We run a wide variety of events including food and drink based special events.
We’re hiring a Junior or Sous Chef to join our talented team.

Our Sous Chefs are hands on with cooking and managing their teams. You will prepare and run service, contribute to menu development and work closely with the Head Chef to order and manage inventory.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Run prep shifts and service
• Communicate the restaurant’s vision to all team members and leads by example.
• Consistently monitor kitchen operations and cleanliness
• Build and maintain relationships with kitchen team members, front of house team and restaurant management
• Follow ordering, inventory and receiving procedures
• Contribute to a positive and welcoming work environment that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and cooking
• Use conflict/resolution and problem solving skills
• Other duties as assigned
• Previous Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine experience in a similar environment
• Passion for food & culinary excellence
• High level of integrity
• Discipline and vision
• Ability to build and nurture relationships; strong team leadership and interpersonal skills
• Detail oriented
• Drive and takes initiative
• Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization
