Job Purpose

The Shipper/Receiver will ship, receive, sort, store and issue parts and supplies for use by the Company and for sale to the public.

Main duties

Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies.
Ensure that stockroom shelves are kept organized.
Maintain records of orders and the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies on hand using manual or computerized inventory system.
Prepare purchase orders to replenish parts and supplies.
Process incoming requisitions and issue or distribute parts and supplies for service department use; price parts on work orders.
Maintain organized files for purchase orders and customer order slips.
Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping; prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents.
Pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions.
Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods; place replacement stock in appropriate place.
Review requisition orders for accuracy and verify that materials and stock are not available from current inventories.
Contact suppliers to follow up on backordered items, missed deliveries and other issues
Reconcile physical inventories with computer counts.
Assist with inventory management; input price and part number changes into computer system.
Call customers when orders arrive.

Other Job Information

Good computer/word processing skills are required.
Work is 90% indoors in an industrial/office setting.  Outside work may involve assisting with moving machinery in outdoor display area.

Job Specifications

Completion of secondary education.
A college diploma or university degree in business or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience is an asset.
Knowledge of small engines and/or lawn and garden equipment, or work experience in an office or warehouse setting is preferred.
Strong customer service background.
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
