The Lady Dunn Health Centre is an accredited multi-service facility located on the north east shore of Lake Superior. Our catchment area has a population of approximately 4, 500 serving the communities of Dubreuilville, Hawk Junction, Michipicoten First Nation, Missanabie, Wawa and White River.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic, organized and self-motivated individual to join our laboratory team.
Major Responsibilities:
– Coordinate, monitor and report on lab specific projects.
– Monitors and maintains information, guidelines, policies, procedures and manuals for best practices for Continuous Quality Improvement and Risk Management Programs.
– Monitors continuous workflow on all projects.
– Develop audits of laboratory procedures and practices in order to demonstrate evidence of compliance with best practice standards. Ensure that reports and audits are distributed to the appropriate bodies in a timely manner.
– Track client concerns and/or complaints, identifying areas of improvement. Report areas of concern on a regular basis to the CEO along with actions taken.
– Develop and maintain department educational and resource material as required.
– Responsible to, or delegate responsibility for notifying others of changes in practices within the laboratory. Will inform clients of the changes well in advance of appointments.
– Perform and teach staff to perform moderately complex specialized technical work requiring specialized knowledge and skills.
– Monitor performance compliance with established policies and procedures to ensure departmental and organizational standards are met.
– Assist with orienting, educating and training staff, including, but not limited to new and revised policies and procedures. Will ensure general competency is met through demonstration.
– Develop cooperative and productive team relationships within the department and the organization. Will fostering a climate reflective of the hospitals mission, vision and core values.
– Conduct client satisfaction surveys from time to time.
– Coordinates occurrence reporting processes and facilitate root cause analysis for all occurrences.
– Deliver training and education on new practices and continuous improvement initiatives in the workplace.
– Provides input as required to the hospital wide quality assurance and risk management programs. Act as an expert laboratory resource for hospital committees on laboratory practices and matters.
– Provide reports and/or fact sheets for the Medical Advisory Committee on Transfusion, or other medical laboratory issues.
– Schedule staff and adheres to the ONA contract.
– Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
– Member in good standing and licensed to practice; College Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
– 5 years or more experience in an active laboratory setting.
– Advanced standing in Continuous Quality Improvement or Risk Management studies or equivalent.
– Post basic education completed or current.
– Willing to become certified in a Quality Improvement or Risk Management Program.
– Experience leading a small team preferred.
– Bilingual; French and English is considered an asset.
