Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: Wawa, ON
Terms of Employment: Permanent- Full time
Description: Automotive service technicians and truck and bus mechanics inspect, diagnose, repair and service mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of commercial transport trucks. Heavy-duty equipment mechanics repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty equipment.
Responsibilities:
· Truck and trailer inspections and repairs
· Inspect, repair and adjust diesel powered units
· Diagnose heavy duty equipment problems
· Perform mechanical repairs on equipment and truck and trailers in the shop and field calls when required
· Installation and repair of attachments
· Troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
· Repair cooling and lubrication systems
· Repair and maintain drive-trains
· Perform incidental welding operations on equipment
· Test repaired equipment for proper performance
· Perform preventive maintenance work
· Instruct and help apprentices
· Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
· Other duties as may be assigned within the reasonable scope of work of the position
· Coordinate with dispatch and site superintendents to ensure all equipment is operating and maintained to support scheduled construction jobs.
Qualifications:
· Licensed 310T Truck and Coach Technician
· Computer literate
· Proven problem-solving skills
· Strong attention to details
· Must be able to perform physical work outdoors in all weather conditions
· Good communication skills
· Strong team player
· Willing to travel and must possess a valid driver’s license.
· The candidate must successfully complete a site pre-employment drug test as per the company policy
· Must possess a valid driver’s license, AZ driver’s license class would be an asset
Working Conditions:
· 50-55 hours per week (according to contractual demands)
· Vacation and Statutory Holidays as per policy H.R.M. 02.07
