We are looking for a highly energetic and dynamic individual for the fulltime position of Human Resources Manager. The Human Resource Manager will contribute to the overall success of Oshki-Pimache-O-Win: The Wenjack Education Institute as a member of the Finance and Human Resource Team by assisting with developing the Human Resource Department and providing support to staff. QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
• A diploma in Human Resources Management with 5 to 7 years in Senior Management experience or
• A degree in Business in Administration with a focus in Human Resources Management with 3 to 5 years in Senior Management experience
• Working towards or possess the designation of Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL)
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Work Hazardous Materials Information Systems Certificate
Required Knowledge & Skills
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in and be able to demonstrate the following skills:
 spreadsheets, and word processing programs, as well as email at a highly proficient level
 an excellent understanding of relevant government legislation and governing regulations as it relates to Human Resources
 an understanding of the northern cultural and political environment
• Must own a vehicle
• Ability to travel, as required
• Proof of receipt of two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine
The specific duties and responsibilities to be performed include:
 Develop, maintain and recommend human resource policies for the Institute.
 Thorough understanding of current privacy legislation as it relates to Human Resources.
 Keep up to date with changes to employment legislation such as Canada Labour Code and Workplace Safety, Occupational Healthy and Safety and Human Rights.
 Keep up to date with changes to governments policy on COVID-19.
 Develop strategic plans for recruitment and performance management.
 Develop, prepare and edit job descriptions.
 Develop and Perform Compensation research & reviews.
 Develop a succession plan for all employees.
 Participate in Interviews.
 Lead role on Health & Safety committee.
 Recruit, interview, and assist with selecting well-qualified staff.
 Determine and order equipment/resources needed for new employees.
 Ensure that personnel files are securely stored and confidentiality is maintained.
 Ensure new hires receive a health and safety orientation to the Institute and any necessary training.
 Assist the Directors to ensure performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
 Assist with recommending professional development and training for staff.
 Administration of all human resource investigations, complaints and discipline matters.
 Process WSIB documentation and claims.
 Process all Short and Long Term Disability Claims.
 Develop return to work plans as part of WSIB, Short and Long Term Disability return to work requirements.
 Management of Benefits, Employee Pension, and Public Salary disclosure.
 Annual Reconciliation for WSIB and Annual Information Return for Pension.
 Coordinate, plan and assist Finance Officer with processing of payroll when the Finance Officer will be absent.
Office administration, regulations, and technology
 Evaluate the need for new technology to meet the organization’s human resource information system, controls, and reporting requirements.
 Monitor all legislation relevant to the organization (Canada Labor Code, Workplace Safety Insurance Act, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Rights, etc.) to ensure compliance.

 Responsible for the efficient and effective implementation of the Institute’s Human Resource policies and procedures in coordination with the Director of Operations.
 The Human Resource Manager is responsible to the Director of Operations for implementing her/his duties and responsibilities on a day to day basis.
 The Human Resource Manager will be accountable to the President for overall work performance according to the Personnel Policies and Procedures.
