Registered Early Childhood Educator – Full-Time – Longlac
The Thunderbird Family Care Centre is currently accepting resumes for a full-time Early
Childhood Educator in our Longlac office. The Thunderbird Family Care Centre is a place where
parents, caregivers and children build strong relationships with each other and connect with
other families and professionals. We offer a variety of programs and services that meet the
unique needs of children and families in an inclusive environment. We provide resources and
workshops with up-to-date information for all stages of your family life, from preconception and
prenatal care, to nutrition, and supporting children within their family and community.
Early Childhood Education Diploma and Member in good standing with the College of Early
Childhood Educators; or in the process of obtaining.
Knowledge of “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years” would
be an asset.
Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history.
Experience working with children and their families.
Experience in a family resource program would be an asset.
Extensive knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice.
Excellent communication, facilitation skills and experience working with diverse groups.
Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
Must have a Criminal Reference check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening completed
and approved prior to the commencement of employment.
Standard First Aid and CPR.
Must possess a valid class “G” driver’s license, and access to a reliable vehicle.
Deliver the Core services through developmental program planning.
Implement/complete all pertinent data, statistics, gathering and other relevant procedures.
Participate as an effective team member through fostering a culture of trust and integrity that
promotes collaboration, team work and reflection.
Participate with the children, caregivers and families in a positive and supportive manner.
Refer families to appropriate community services and resources based on their needs.
Facilitate or organize both child and parent education workshops.
Support and work as part of a staff/volunteer team.
Create an environment that welcomes families into the space, invite their perspectives and
provide opportunities for families to participate in a meaningful way.
Encourage and model appropriate and positive behaviors among participants, aiding in
conflict resolution, engaging families and facilitating interaction between parents and their
Assist and participate in community activities which promote our organization and the
importance of early years.
Maintain a safe, diverse and stimulating physical environment within the centre.
Participate in training and adhere to the Policies and Procedures as established by the
Thunderbird Friendship Centre.
