Position Overview

The Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and monitoring health and safety hazards in the workplace. Developing strategies to prevent, control, and eliminate accidents and occupational injuries, ensuring compliance with both organizational and government health and safety standards. Additionally, the Advisor manages the claims process for Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, tracking, and resolution. This role is crucial for fostering a safe, compliant, and supportive work environment.

 

Qualifications:

Education

  • A Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • Two or more years of experience in health and safety management and claims administration (STD/LTD/WSIB).

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and claims management processes.
  • Ability to lead safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
